Letter: School libraries are essential

As a volunteer at Matheny-Withrow School, I have seen how vital keeping that school's library open at least one day per week is, thus providing books for students to read in the evenings and on weekends.
Textbooks do not foster a love of reading — books of one's own choosing do — but a child can't read a book if he or she has no book.
